Claim: A writer should write about things they care about. Data: After all, writers tend to care more about their work when they care about the subject. Warrant: Writers should care about what they write.
Vonnegut states in the passage, "Find a subject you care about and in your heart you feel like others should care about". When the audience reads your writing, you should make them care about the subject just as much as you. This is typically easier to do when you have a passion for what you are writing about because the emotional aspect of the piece comes into play. If the readers feels as though you don't care about what your writing then they tend not to want to read your work. Overall, I believe it is important to care about what your writing so that the audience can connect with the piece.
